The entourage effect, a term coined by Dr. Ethan Russo, is driven by the terpene content of the plant. The entourage effect refers to the collective synergistic action of all the constituents. Other cannabinoids such as CBD, CBG, and CBC are also contributors to the entourage effect.

Terpenes are the reason why different cultivars create different effects. They are responsible for the energetic, paranoid, couch lock or sleepy effects, etc., experienced by consuming different varieties. The subtle and not-so-subtle differences caused by different varieties are for the most part caused by differences in terpenoid profiles. A terpene-heavy full-spectrum CO2 extract such as our EVFO™ will create a more intense effect then a distilled, terpene-deficient cannabinoid reparation, with the same or greater THC percent.
